SMHS have worked on a number of projects at system and national level throughout the UK, NATO and CCEB Nations.
SMHS provided IAM consultancy services to the Federal Aviation Administration for their SWIM program. The key role and responsibilities included:
- Review and document analysis of current IAM specifications and federation profiles;
- Design and document the IAM Directory Service based on X.500/LDAP that provides an identity and attribute repository for entities within the National Airspace System;
- Design and document interfaces to other identity and attribute repositories in order to synchronise all required information to the centrally available IAM Directory Service; and,
- Develop a proof-of-concept IAM Directory Service.
SMHS have been providing Subject Matter Expertise to NCIA in the areas of Core Enterprise Services, Identity and Access Management Services, Information Exchange Gateways and Object Level Protection Information Assurance Services. This work specifically involves writing technical reports, directives and guidance, well-defined specifications, proof-of-concept demonstrators and feasibility studies involving technical evaluation and assessments of existing Commercial Off-The-Shelf products that have been selected to support the studies
SMHS developed the high level and low level designs for the interoperability hubs of a major UK government system. The design supports messaging (SMTP and X.400), directory (LDAP and DISP) and web browsing services, utilizing appropriate security services, with a range of external domains. It includes centralized management with near real-time auditing of events within the system. The role included the development Statements of Work for external product providers to enhance their product to meet the specific requirements.
SMHS has been contracted as the Technical Design Authority and as the Subject Matter Expert for Secure Collaboration services across Security Domains within the UK, US and NATO coalitions. This involved designing and implementing a Secure and Federated Architecture for Collaboration involving Medium Grade Email, SOAP Based Web Services, XMPP Chat and Instant Messaging, Document Sharing and Enterprise Directory Synchronisation
